Concrete Driveway and Patio Questions, Answered Simply

FAQ

Questions and answers

Does Presshonestly Concrete pour the concrete?

No. Presshonestly Concrete is a referral service. We do not pour, stamp, or finish anything. Providers do the work. They are independent local businesses in our network. You tell us about your project. We pass it to a provider who fits it. You then talk to that provider directly and decide if you want to hire them.

How long does a new concrete driveway take?

Most jobs take a few days of work. Prep comes first. The crew clears the ground, sets forms, and lays a gravel base. Then they pour and finish. After that, the concrete must cure, which means harden. Many people wait several days before driving on it. Ask the provider for a schedule in writing.

How do I choose a concrete provider?

Ask before you sign. Get at least two written quotes. Check that each one lists the size, thickness, base work, and finish. Ask if the provider carries liability insurance. Ask to see photos of past work. Ask how they handle cracks and rain delays. A clear, patient answer is a good sign.

What does the work cost?

Costs vary by job. In the U.S., plain concrete often runs about $6 to $12 per square foot. Stamped work can run higher, often $12 to $20 or more. Size, ground prep, and finish all change the price. Treat these as rough ranges only. Get a written quote before you agree to anything.

Will my homeowners insurance pay for a new driveway or patio?

Usually not. New concrete is an upgrade, and most policies do not pay for upgrades. Some policies may cover sudden damage, but that is a different matter. Check your own policy or ask your agent. Also ask the provider if they carry their own liability insurance and workers' comp.

Can heavy rain stop a pour?

Yes. Rain can ruin fresh concrete. In our hot, wet region, providers watch the forecast closely. They may move your date if a storm is coming. Heat matters too, since concrete can dry too fast. Ask how the provider protects the surface and what happens if the weather turns.

What happens after I request an estimate?

We read your details and share them with a provider in our network. That provider may reach out to talk about your project and set up a visit. You can ask questions and compare. You are under no obligation to hire anyone. Call hours vary by provider.

Is stamped concrete a good choice for a patio?

It can be. Stamped concrete is poured, then pressed with patterns so it looks like stone, brick, or wood. It costs more than plain concrete. It also needs sealing every few years to keep its color. In warm, sunny places, ask about slip-resistant finishes. A provider can show you samples and explain the upkeep.
